Our project named Every Bite of Food Matters with reference number 2023-1-LV02-KA152-YOU-000114359, which is a K152 youth exchange project, was accepted by the Latvian National Agency.
It was held in Riga, Latvia with the participation of 6 countries in total including Latvia, France, Romania, Lithuania, Turkey, Ukraine. Our project was carried out between 12.02.2024- 19.02.2024.
Our organization, which deals with serious environmental problems, sought solutions to environmental problems in this project. we aimed to raise people's awareness about the importance of a sustainable world. One of the most serious problems that harm nature is the amount of food wasted worldwide every year. Wasted food has far-reaching effects both nationally, environmentally and globally. As a result, the main reason for our organization to apply for this project was to help end hunger, which is one of the most important factors triggering environmental problems, and to raise awareness on this issue.
As for the objectives of our project; there are many issues that we wanted to raise awareness about in order to reduce the amount of food waste with this project we want to realize. In this sense, our goals were as follows:
-Providing information about the consequences of food waste and tips to reduce it and encourage people (consumers) to get educated.
-We aimed for our project to contribute to local, national and international legislative and infrastructure changes that address the parts of the food system where the highest amount of food is currently lost or wasted.
-We aimed for young people to become aware of their consumption habits and learn how they can reduce the food they waste in their daily lives.
