The Erasmus+ Mobility of Youth Workers project Young Guardians of Forest and Nature (Project No. 2024-1-TR01-KA153-YOU-000217026) was implemented in Ankara, Türkiye. The field study conducted at Soğuksu National Park in cooperation with the Chamber of Forest Engineers of TMMOB and the General Directorate of Forestry provided participants with the opportunity to observe nature firsthand and experience conservation practices in action. Guided nature walks and forest exploration activities allowed them to examine the ecological richness of the area and gain a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of forest ecosystems.
The forest clean-up activity demonstrated in a tangible way how environmentally responsible behaviour can be translated into everyday life. By working together with a shared sense of responsibility, participants gained practical experience in protecting natural areas.
The simulation on forest fire preparedness and suppression highlighted the importance of acting swiftly and responsibly in the face of environmental emergencies. These hands-on exercises provided valuable insights into risk management and teamwork.
The nature photography and environmental awareness workshop enabled participants to document natural beauty through creative means while illustrating how conservation messages can be effectively communicated to the public. Altogether, these experiences fostered a deeper connection with nature and reinforced a commitment to sustainable living.
