Young Guardians of Forest and Nature - Digital Awareness Tools Take Centre Stage with the Participation of Black Wood Environmental Biedrība

The Erasmus+ Mobility of Youth Workers project Young Guardians of Forest and Nature (Project No. 2024-1-TR01-KA153-YOU-000217026) was implemented in Ankara, Türkiye, from 21 to 28 February 2025 under the coordination of the Chamber of Forest Engineers of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB). The project brought together the Chamber of Forest Engineers of TMMOB, KUFF Sports and Education Club, Green Behavior Youth Organization, Delta Environmental Association VšĮ, Asociația Universul Adolescenților, Verein für Gemeinwesenarbeit und Minderheitenintegration, and the partner organisation Black Wood Environmental Biedrība. By exploring innovative approaches to forest and nature conservation, participants enhanced their capacity to promote environmental awareness through youth work.

Through a virtual tour activity, forests and conservation practices from different parts of the world were explored in a digital environment. Participants had the opportunity to compare global environmental challenges and successful solutions from various regions.

The literature review session enabled the exchange of research findings and good practices from the partner countries. In doing so, it strengthened participants’ abilities to access scientific sources, synthesise information, and think critically.

During the digital storytelling and media campaign workshop, participants designed creative content to communicate environmental messages effectively. By making use of social media and digital communication tools, they developed campaign ideas capable of reaching wider audiences.

Preparatory work for the online learning platform supported the sustainability of the project’s outcomes. At the same time, the rehearsal of the theatrical performance Do Not Touch My Forest reinforced the use of artistic methods for expressing environmental messages. The reflection session that followed provided an opportunity to review the learning achievements and share constructive feedback for future activities.
