Conscious Learning and Local Engagement on the Journey of Ethical Fashion

The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Cruelty Free Fashion” (Project No. 2022-3-HU01-KA152-YOU-000093353) was held in Budapest, Hungary, from 22 to 29 September 2023, hosted by Tudatos Tervezésért Egyesület. The project brought together Long Term Planning from Hungary, Asociația Universul Adolescenților from Romania, SHAFT ORGANIZATION from Türkiye, Centrum pro ochranu zvirat PAFF z.s from Czechia, Black Wood Environmental Biedrība from Latvia, and Comunità di Supereroi from Italy to promote ethical and animal-friendly fashion.

During the Youthpass workshop led by the Turkish team, participants gained in-depth knowledge of the certification system that makes the learning outcomes of Erasmus+ projects visible, as well as of the eight key competences. Through the informational materials provided, the young people learned how to showcase their achievements in their educational and professional lives.

The subsequent jigsaw activity encouraged participants from different countries to work together toward a common goal. Throughout the exercise, communication, problem-solving, and team spirit were strengthened, while the values of mutual respect, tolerance, and solidarity were put into practice.

In an information session facilitated by the Hungarian team, the project’s content, working methods, and safety guidelines were presented. The international groups then visited local businesses to introduce the Erasmus+ Programme and the project’s objectives. This field activity enhanced participants’ intercultural communication skills and enabled them to become more familiar with Budapest.

During the jigsaw-based evaluation session led by the Romanian team, the activities carried out were jointly analyzed. By sharing feedback, participants strengthened their self-assessment, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making skills, while consolidating their learning outcomes related to ethical fashion from a holistic perspective.
