We are pleased to share our experience as a partner in the Erasmus+ youth mobility project titled “Buy Less, Choose Well, Make It Last” (Project Number: 2022-3-HU01-KA152-YOU-000094019), which was held in Budapest, Hungary from October 2–7, 2023.
This timely initiative brought together 55 young participants from Hungary, Czech Republic, Latvia, Spain, and Turkey, all united by a common purpose—to explore and promote environmentally conscious living.
A Project Rooted in Sustainability and Awareness
As environmental challenges continue to intensify across the globe, the need for sustainable behaviors and conscious consumption becomes more urgent than ever. This project tackled these crucial topics by engaging young people in interactive workshops, practical activities, and intercultural dialogue centered on:
Zero waste practices
Conscious consumerism
Recycling and upcycling
Minimalist living and ethical consumption
Participants didn’t just learn about these topics—they lived them. From group discussions on reducing plastic use to creative sessions repurposing everyday materials, every part of the program was designed to leave a lasting impact.
Youth as Drivers of Change
One of the most powerful aspects of this project was how it placed young people at the center of change. By exchanging ideas and experiences across national and cultural lines, participants gained new perspectives on how sustainability can be applied in their daily lives and communities.
Our organization proudly supported this initiative by preparing and guiding our youth participants, helping them engage with the content and connect with peers from across Europe. We saw firsthand how such experiences not only build knowledge but also empower youth to take real action in their local environments.
Lasting Outcomes and Moving Forward
The title of the project says it all: Buy Less, Choose Well, Make It Last. It’s more than just a slogan—it’s a mindset we hope our participants will carry forward in their lives. As a partner, we are committed to continuing this mission by incorporating these values into our own local initiatives and by sharing the outcomes of this project with our wider community.
We are deeply grateful to the project coordinator in Hungary for their vision and commitment, and to all partner organizations who made this experience so meaningful. It was an inspiring week of learning, connecting, and growing—both as individuals and as a community committed to environmental responsibility.
Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming international collaborations. Together, we believe in building a future where sustainability is not just a choice, but a way of life.
